PROGRAMME ON DIGITAL SATELLITE COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

The inauguration ceremony for the programme was held with the participation of leading figures in the telecommunication industry.

The course was designed to suit those who are ;

            Responsible for maintaining satellite television and communication systems
            Engaged in deploying satellite based communication services.
            Planning to use satellite based services in future.
            Ambitious to be in touch with state-of-the-art technologies.
            Desirous of being employed in organizations that provide satellite based services.

Practical training was conducted at the company’s own training facility located in tandem with the manufacturing division.

The course contents covered digital advantage, digital modulation techniques for Satellite communication; PSK, QAM, Satellite orbits, Foot prints, altitude control, beam isolation, frequency bands, azimuth & elevation, path distance, satellite link configuration, Satellite multiple access techniques; FDMA, TDMA, CDMA, SSTDMA, network synchronization issue, data encoding for error correction, digital satellite link analysis, link budgets, case studies, digital Satellite television broadcasting; DVB-S satellite TV receiving systems, very small aperture terminals (V SAT) technology and networks, global mobile personal communication systems (GMPCS) & satellite data networks, DTH service via satellite.

The practical training covered understating of downlink equipotent and apparatus, installation and commissioning of satellite receiving systems, SMATV distribution, and maintenance. The program was conducted by engineer Mr. Kithsiri Samarasighe, senior lecture, department of electronics and telecommunication engineering, faculty of engineering, university of Motatuwa.
